LAKE TECHNOLOGY LAKE MESA QUAD EQ
January 2005—Lake Technology (www.lake.com.au) — which recently received a takeover offer from Dolby Laboratories — unveiled the Lake Mesa Quad EQ, a 4×4 digital matrix processor that incorporates the same DSP-based EQ, delay and dynamics featured in Lake's popular Contour digital speaker processor. The Mesa Quad EQ is also supported by Lake Controller V. 3 software. Four channels of 24-bit, 96kHz converters, each with analog I/O and AES/EBU digital I/O, are included. All eight outputs of the Mesa Quad are simultaneously available to allow use as a distribution matrix.
LAKE MESA QUAD EQ
November 2004—This new 4×4 digital matrix processor is designed for use in stand-alone or networked concert sound, recording, mastering and broadcasting. Incorporating the same advanced DSP-based EQ, delay and dynamics processing tools found in the Lake Contour digital speaker processor, the Lake Mesa Quad EQ™ is also supported by the Lake Controller software in its latest release, V. 3.0. In addition to shelving and parametric filters, all four discrete channels of the Lake Mesa Quad EQ feature Lake's powerful EQ overlay processing, which may be configured to provide both Lake Mesa EQ parametric overlays and Ideal Graphic EQ™ overlays according to user needs. Retail: $4,999.
LAKE CONTOUR UPDATES
March 2004—Contour Controller Version 2 software — available as a functional 30-day demo on Lake Contour's expanded Website with full integration of Lake's SmaartLive™ Controller Version 5 software — is now shipping. SmaartLive Controller software supports bidirectional communication between Contour Controller and SIA SmaartLive. This allows spectrum, spectrograph and transfer function measurements to be displayed within the Contour's EQ and XOVER Overlay pages while passing control data from the controller back to SmaartLive. Communication can occur on the same host computer or across Ethernet connecting two PCs. Other Contour Controller enhancements include user selection of the input signal to each Contour module, block diagram and Toolbar Context navigation for quickly moving within the app, and a choice of milliseconds/feet/meters on the Delay page. Also, stereo AES/EBU digital I/O supports 24-bit resolution from 44.1k to 96 kHz, allowing Lake Contour to be used as an EQ, delay and dynamics channel insert processor.
LAKE TECHNOLOGY CONTOUR
January 2004—Contour from Lake Technology set
the live sound world on its ear with a new paradigm for speaker EQ that
employs 96kHz resolution, low-propagation FIR filters and wireless
Ethernet operation from a tablet PC. Its method of filter synthesis
allows unlimited EQ overlays, and unique topologies such as
“brick wall” and “mesa” filters are also
possible. Lake's new plug-in provides integration between its
Controller software and SmaartLive, showing RTA, spectrograph and FFT
displays directly in Contour's software interface.
LAKE TECHNOLOGY LAKE CONTOUR
October 2003—Lake Contour™ digital speaker controller incorporates a unique set of powerful DSP-based EQ and processing tools, including crossovers, dynamics and delays, allowing the optimization of performance sound speaker systems. Lake Contour can synthesize filter responses on-the-fly and create EQ curves with no limitations. The unique Contour Controller software provides intuitive management of all functions remotely via a wireless touchscreen and additionally integrates SIA SmaartLive® RTA capability.
LAKE TECHNOLOGY CONTOUR
May 2003—Last year, Australia's Lake Technology teamed with Clair Brothers on the Clair iO, found in many Clair drive racks this past year. Lake introduced Contour ($4,995 list), a similar 2-in/6-out, 24-bit/96kHz, PC-controllable digital processor. Besides its impressive wireless touchscreen interface, it offers low latency, "Optimal Phase" FIR technology with 2 ms of propagation and can layer an unlimited number of filters. Its filter-synthesis algorithms provide new types of filters: The "raised cosine" graphic EQs have minimal filter interaction. Besides traditional parametrics, "mesa" filters–with flat tops or bottoms–can be defined, even with asymmetrical slopes. Beyond the usual crossovers, Contour also produces linear phase and "brick wall" slopes exceeding 100 dB/octave. Contour is sure to find its way into top tour drive racks this summer.
