QSC WIDELINE-8 ARRAY
Including the full-range WL3082 and WL212-sw sub, the WideLine-8 Series from QSC (www.qscaudio.com) offers the same wide, 140-degree dispersion as the larger WideLine models, with a rigging system integrated into each enclosure. The 20x9-inch (WxH), tri-amplified WL3082 provides a 68-20k Hz response from two 8-inch drivers with neodymium magnets and a 3-inch voice coil neodymium compression driver on a 140-degree, multiple-aperture diffraction waveguide. The dual-12 subwoofer produces 135dB SPL and takes LF response down to 32 Hz.
QSC HPR122I
March 2007—QSC's HPR122i is pole-mountable or flyable with a 12-inch woofer, 1.4-inch compression driver and 500 watts of bi-amping in a birch-ply cabinet that streets at $799.
QSC POWERED MD SERIES
September 2006—QSC is now shipping powered versions of its modular, arrayable MD enclosures, including full-range models MD-FP122/64r, MD-FP122/94r, MD-FP152/64r and MD-FP152/94r. All powered MD models feature lightweight 1,000 and 1,400-watt Class-D amp modules, and are offered in various coverage patterns with 12- or 15-inch woofers — all sharing the same 35 inch — tall, 30-degree trapezoidal enclosures as the passive range for easy creation of full-range or combined full-range/LF clusters. Cabinets can be tightly packed, splaying their 60×40-degree horns for uniform coverage in any multiple from 60 degrees to 360 degrees, with the radial front grilles forming a contiguous cylindrical surface. Other features include black or white finish, 15 attachment points, and rotatable HF horns (in full-range models) for horizontal or vertical use.
QSC INSTALLATION LINE ARRAY
July 2006—The Installation Line Array (ILA) from QSC is now shipping. Built into a lightweight, molded enclosure with simplified rigging, the series offers quality performance at an affordable price. Each ILA loudspeaker has two 8-inch, neodymium magnet woofers — one operating at the low end and the other covering midrange for improved directivity in the crossover region. Dual-titanium-dome, neodymium compression drivers with 1.75-inch voice coils are mounted on a multiple aperture diffraction waveguide for wide 140-degree coverage. ILAs can be bi-amped or tri-amped, and include rigging hardware. An optional subwoofer is offered.
QSC CX168
January 2006—Designed for permanent installs where space is at a premium, QSC's CX168 ($2,450) is an 8-channel amplifier delivering 90W/channel at 8 ohms. Each pair of channels may be bridged to configure the amplifier as a 4, 5, 6 or 7-channel unit. Like the entire CX Series, the CX168 includes DataPorts for remote amplifier management or signal processing, as well as QSC's PowerWave technology for reduced size and weight. Selectable highpass filters protect speakers and prevent speaker transformer saturation with minimal effect on program material, while front panel LEDs indicate signal, clip, bridged mono and parallel input status. The CX168 accepts audio input via rear panel Euroblock or DataPort connectors. An RS port connects the CX168 to a CM16a amplifier network monitor for remote control. The DataPort enables using the CX168 with a variety of QSC expansion modules such as the DSP-3, which adds two channels of independent signal processing.
QSC DIGITAL CINEMA SPEAKER SERIES
March 2005—QSC expands its series of bi/tri-ampable screen channel loudspeakers to a total of nine units, ranging from the compact SC-413 to the flagship SC-443, with its 4×15 bottom end and proprietary MH-1075 mid-high section. All mid-high sections feature a horn-loaded midrange topped by a titanium-diaphragm compression driver coupled with an adjustable pan-and-tilt bracket. With nominal coverage rated at 90° horizontal (+20°/-30°) in the vertical plane, each is outfitted with its own driver-protection network and a passive crossover for bi-amp use, and also facilitates high-frequency crossover points of up to 1,800 Hz to ensure that most dialog is reproduced by a single element for added intelligibility. LF in the three new units uses QSC's Close-Coupled Woofer (CCW) technology, which keeps coverage angles considerably wider over a greater frequency range than traditional devices employing widely spaced woofers.
QSC ISIS WIDELINE
January 2005—QSC's ISIS WideLine is a full-range, wide-angle line array speaker system with a 140° horizontal dispersion pattern. Incorporating a selectable three-way, bi-amp or tri-amp design, the WideLine's internal midrange frequency shading can be switched to either of the two woofers. Both drivers handle the low frequencies, but only one driver handles the mids. The frequency-shading circuit enables the operator to redirect mid-bass buildup without touching the EQ for improved intelligibility in an otherwise problematic frequency range. Each WideLine element uses dual 10-inch, long-throw LF speakers in a ported trapezoidal enclosure. The high-frequency driver is a 1.4-inch exit (3-inch voice coil) neodymium compression driver, mounted on a proprietary multiple aperture diffraction slot waveguide. The enclosure's lightweight, cored-composite construction weighs only 70 pounds per element, with all rigging included.
QSC QSCONTROL.NET/BASIS 922AZ
October 2003—QSControl.net is QSC's next-generation network audio system, encompassing the seamless integration of the company's networking, transport, control, processing and monitoring technologies. QSControl.net melds QSC's power amplification and loudspeaker products into a unified system that enables the user to administrate it all via a fully integrated graphical user interface. The Basis 922az is the first in a series of hardware engines designed to operate under the QSControl.net platform. Price: $3,135.
QSC WL-2102 WIDELINE SPEAKER SYSTEM
October 2003—QSC's WL-2102 is a full-range sound reinforcement solution able to reproduce the full gamut of program material necessary for ballrooms, theaters and small to mid-size events. Easily transportable, the WL-2102 is a three-way design encompassing two 10-inch LF drivers plus a HF waveguide. The system's broad coverage minimizes the need for sidefills, making it an excellent choice for center cluster usage or as a downfill enclosure with larger-format line array systems. Construction is of lightweight composite material, and all fly hardware is included. Price: $5,022.
QSC DSP-4
October 2002—Featuring reference-grade audio performance coupled with XLR connectivity, the DSP-4 is a compact module offering two channels of independent DSP (Digital Signal Processing) that attaches to the back of most QSC 2-channel amplifiers. An economical solution for adding DSP capability to sound reinforcement systems, the unit features a fully programmable signal chain and includes crossover filters, signal delay, parametric filters, compression and limiting—accessed via an onboard RS-232 serial port using a standard PC. MSRP: $685.
