SLS LOUDSPEAKERS TPAC
May 2007—Nothing short of brilliant, SLS Audio's (www.slsaudio.com) TPAC loudspeaker protection circuit addresses the age-old concern of speaker protection without compromising audio quality. TPAC employs the well-known lamp attenuator for soft compression when the speaker input is overdriven. Unfortunately, lamp attenuators have a fast attack, typically providing too much protection too quickly, thus preventing a driver from reaching its maximum power handling. TPAC avoids this and other problems (i.e., insertion loss and blown filaments) by using a relay-switched, variable-attack circuit that's out of the audio path until the input power exceeds a specified threshold and duration. The protection circuit is then automatically engaged, letting the drivers achieve full output with maximum component protection.

SLS LOUDSPEAKERS RLA/4 LINE ARRAY
January 2007—SLS Loudspeakers intros the RLA/4 a full-range, bi-amped true line source array module. The bi-amplification–ready RLA/4 has a PRD500 planar ribbon transducer handling highs; the low section has twin 6.5-inch die-cast woofers with a patented Intercooler system. Horizontal coverage is 90-degrees and SLS' free LASS prediction software visually indicates ideal set up locations for even, predictable coverage of any room. All array rigging is included on the cabinet that is made from sturdy 3/4" 13-ply Baltic Birch and includes splay options from 1 to 10 degrees between boxes.

SLS LOUDSPEAKERS RLA/4
October 2006—The RLA/4 was developed for a wide range of applications from permanent sound reinforcement installations to a professional portable PA system with the highest performance characteristics. Its high frequency section features a high performance PRD500 planar ribbon transducer. The unique design and properties of the planar ribbon driver allows precise acoustical coupling of the array and hence, full utilization of line source (cylindrical waves) benefits.

SLS LOUDSPEAKERS LS6593 LINE ARRAY
January 2006—The LS6593 compact line array from SLS Loudspeakers provides various options for vertical dispersion, allowing versatile system configuration. The LS6593S/LS6593A is based on a woofer line array mounted on a front panel with a coaxially positioned ribbon tweeter array. Comprising six 5.25-inch drivers, the woofer's straight-line array has controlled vertical dispersion, while the tweeter's nine 3-inch proprietary ribbon planar drivers have internally articulated driver elements, allowing wider vertical dispersion.

SLS LOUDSPEAKERS LS6593
October 2005—The LS6593 compact line array design provides different options for vertical dispersion, allowing versatile system configuration for many applications. The LS6593S/LS6593A is based on a woofer line array mounted on a front panel with a coaxially positioned ribbon tweeter array. Comprising six 5.25-inch drivers, the woofer’s straight line array has an extremely controlled vertical dispersion, while the tweeter’s 9x3-inch proprietary ribbon planar drivers have internally articulated driver elements, allowing wider vertical dispersion. Price: $1,195.

SLS LOUDSPEAKERS RLA/1
January 2005—Designed for large venues, the SLS RLA/1 incorporates multiple LS9900 three-way modules. The LS9900 comprises two 15-inch LF woofers, four 6.5-inch cone drivers for mid-range and two PRD1000 push-pull neodymium ribbon drivers for HF. The RLA/2 is designed for medium to small venues and utilizes multiple LS8800 modules. Each LS8800 employs two 8-inch high-powered woofers and the PRD1000 ribbon driver. The RLA/3 is a lightweight, compact line array comprising multiple LS6500 modules. Each LS6500 utilizes a 100W RMS, 6.5-inch woofer and an SLS PRD500 5-inch Planar Ribbon Driver in a compact bass-reflex trapezoid enclosure. Available in nonpowered and powered models, the LS8695 and the P-LS8695 employ eight 6.5-inch woofers coupled with nine PRD500 ribbon drivers. The P-LS8695 incorporates 24-bit, 96kHz DSP.

SLS LOUDSPEAKERS PL6/PL6C SERIES
November 2004—Offering enhanced sonic performance for in-wall and in-ceiling installs, both new models include a PRD Planar Ribbon HF driver and a polycomposite woofer with Santoprene surround, which provide the extended frequency range necessary for the accurate playback of high definition music. In addition, the system offers uniform coverage over the entire frequency range with an extra-wide “sweet spot” for maximum full-range coverage.

SLS LOUDSPEAKERS UPDATES LINE ARRAY SIMULATION SOFTWARE
September 2004—SLS Loudspeakers is releasing a new version of its Line Array Simulation Software (LASS), now with an Optimizations module that dramatically reduces the time required for line array configuration and rigging parameters design. The optimization feature is said to simplify the entire process and can produce dependable results even if the user does not have previous experience with line arrays and their complex radiation patterns. The LASS program optimizes the number of boxes and proper splay angles between each of the boxes, maximizing coverage and eliminating guesswork.

SLS LOUDSPEAKERS RLA/3 RIBBON LINE ARRAY
April 2004—Unveiled at NSCA Expo '04, the RLA/3 from SLS Loudspeakers is a splayable version of the company's LS8695 Columnar Line Array that shares many of the LS8695's features and components, but is priced at less than $800 per module. Each module has a 100-watt, 6.5-inch woofer and a 5-inch PRD500 Planar Ribbon Driver in a 20-pound trapezoidal birch ply enclosure that's only 7.25x14x10 inches (HxWxD). Specs include 80-20k Hz response, 110° horizontal coverage and 120dB peak SPLs. All of the necessary rigging is included with the system.

SLS LOUDSPEAKERS RLA/3
November 2003—SLS Loudspeakers introduced several new speakers, including its RLA/3 compact line array. Each 20-pound LS6500 line array module employs the same 6.5-inch woofer and ribbon HF as the company's 6-foot LS8695 Line Column.

SLS LOUDSPEAKERS RLA/2
October 2003—The SLS RLA/2 Ribbon Line Array is a compact system designed for small- and medium-size venues that can't accommodate large cabinet arrays. The RLA/2 incorporates SLS ribbon-driver technology and a space-efficient cabinet housing two 8-inch, high-powered cone drivers to deliver LF down to 70 Hz and 500-watt handling for 125dB continuous SPLs and 131dB peaks. SLS' PRD1000 Push-Pull Neodymium Ribbon Driver offers HF response out to 20 kHz. The 56-pound (with rigging) RLA/2 cabinet is trapezoidal, measuring 9.6 inches high in front (7.6 inches high in back), 28.25 inches wide and 13 inches deep. Input connectors are two NL-4s.

SLS RLA/2
July 2003—SLS RLA/2 uses its unique PRD1000 ribbon driver to provide a very smooth high end; coupled with other array elements, it can be used as a planar line source. Though it can run as a bi-amp system, when ordered with NL-8 connectors, the cabinet can be tri-amped and the outside woofer lowpassed at 300 Hz to improve its horizontal coverage in the mids.

SLS US8190
April 2003—SLS' $550 US8190 is an ultra-compact (11.5×18.5×8-inch), low-profile wedge monitor with 8-inch woofer and 5-inch ribbon tweeter. Smooth, sweet and loud, with 115dB continuous SPLs.
