TURBOSOUND ASPECT TA-500 SPEAKER, TSB-118 SUBWOOFER
February 2007—Turbosound expands its Aspect line with the TA-500 wide-dispersion speaker and the TSB-118 subwoofer, designed for use with the TA-500 and larger Qlight™ models. The TA-500 provides 50×25-degree (H×V) dispersion and three-way, full-range (60 to 18k Hz) sound from its 10-inch mid-driver on a MF Polyhorn, HF driver on an HF Polyhorn and a 15-inch LF driver. The design complements the longer-throw Aspect TA-880 products with similar voicing characteristics that allow easy integration of these models in any venue. The TA-500 is initially offered in a fixed-install/ground-stacked variant, with additional models being added. The optional TSB-118 subwoofer employs a single 600W 18-inch driver in a bandpass enclosure with a frequency response of 35 Hz to 150 Hz; stacking feet and a pole holder are standard.
TURBOSOUND ASPECT TA-500
October 2006—The TA-500 is a three-way, full-range (60Hz to 18kHz) speaker with patented Polyhorn™ design to provide wider dispersion characteristics of 50x25-degrees (HxV). Perfect for regional and theater tours and fixed installations. The unit features a Turbo-loaded 15-inch LF driver, a single 10-inch mid driver on a MF Polyhorn and a single HF driver on an HF Polyhorn. Similar voicing characteristics makes the TA-500 easy to integrate with all Aspect models.
TURBOSOUND TA-500
April 2006—Turbosound expanded its Aspect Series with the TA-500, a three-way trapezoidal box with a 15-inch LF, 10-inch cone mid and HF compression driver on Polyhorns, so it's voiced like the longer-throw Aspect TA-880 boxes but designed for wide-dispersion applications such as regional tours and theaters.
TURBOSOUND TSW-218 SUB-BASS
February 2006—The Turbosound large-format TSW-218 ($4,912) is a Turbo-loaded sub-bass enclosure capable of delivering very high SPLs. Designed to complement Turbosound's Aspect Series and the larger models in the QLight™ range, this double 18-inch, modular, coupling-horn enclosure offers a dramatic sensitivity increase when multiple units are coupled, with 104 dB from a single unit and eight coupled cabinets delivering up to 110 dB. Cabinets are equipped with heavy-duty nylon feet and matching locating recesses. Strap points integrated into the side handles ensure structurally secure ground-stacked arrays.
TURBOSOUND TA-890H
May 2005—Turbosound unveiled the TA-890H touring version of its radical Aspect Series full-range enclosure. The unique HF and HMF multicell PolyHorns create a gently curved low-distortion wavefront with 25°×15° dispersion. The 450 to 5k Hz mids are handled by a 10-inch driver, with highs by a 3-inch compression driver and dual long-excursion 10s providing the lows. The compact 31×19×22-inch enclosures' MF/HF sections can be rotated, and cabinets can be flown in horizontal or vertical orientation with an elegant fly system.
TURBOSOUND SHIPS ASPECT SERIES
November 2004—Turbosound's Aspect Series is its most efficient loudspeaker design, scalable for small clubs and auditoriums, to arenas and stadiums. Incorporates many patented concepts such as the system's Polyhorn™ designs. These are applied at both high and high-mid frequencies, and comprise equal-path-length, multisection waveguides that create a phase-coherent wavefront. Due to the design's tightly focused point-and-shoot directivity, it permits individual wavefronts to coincide seamlessly with the physical curvature of an array and to minimize comb filtering effects between adjacent cabinets.
TURBOSOUND ASPECT SERIES
June 2004—Turbosound's two-box/four-way Aspect system is the company's most efficient system to date. Designed to outperform line arrays, Aspect is scalable to fit venues from clubs to stadiums, and uses “polyhorns” — unique multicellular HF and MHF horns — to create a phase-coherent, curved wavefront with sharply defined coverage. Aspect features integral flying hardware, a rotatable mid-high section (with dual HF drivers and three 10-inch cones for midrange) for horizontal or vertical use and dual horn-loaded 15-inch woofers in the matching low box.
TURBOSOUND ASPECT SERIES
May 2004—Turbosound's new two-box, four-way Aspect Series speaker system employs multicellular HF and MHF horns, or “polyhorns,” to create a phase-coherent, curved wavefront and eliminates comb-filtering effects by providing sharply defined coverage angles. The system uses dual HF drivers, a high-mid 10 and dual-10 horn-loaded low-mids. The companion low box includes dual horn-loaded 15s.
TURBOSOUND Q-LIGHT TQ-315
October 2003—Turbosound expands its Q-Light Series with the compact, trapezoidal, two-way TQ-315, featuring a proprietary Converging Elliptical Waveguide horn design for horizontal and vertical speaker installs. The TQ-315 is a switchable bi-amped/passive design with a 15-inch woofer and 3-inch-diaphragm HF driver on a rotatable 80°x50° Converging Elliptical Waveguide. It's made of 3/4-inch birch plywood and finished in black (TurboBlue optional) with reticulated foam grille. Standard is a pole-mount socket and two Speakon NL4MP jacks; flying hardware is optional.
TURBOSOUND TXD LOUDSPEAKERS
April 2003—For those occasions when budgets are tight, Turbosound showed its passive TXD loudspeakers, designed as portable systems for the live music, club and DJ markets. With built-in rigging points, the TXDs also work in fixed installs. The series includes the compact two-way TXD-121 and TXD-151 (with 12- or 15-inch woofers and a new 1-inch HF compression driver), and subwoofers with single or dual-15s or single 18-inch woofers and a TXD-12M compact wedge. Powered versions will be added around mid-year.
