HHB SURROUND PACK
December 2001—The Surround Pack ($4,895) from HHB Communications (www.hhbusa.com) includes five Circle 5A active monitors and a Circle 1 subwoofer. A new cone design in the Circle 5A promises to eliminate many of the problems associated with conventional speaker cones and features variable surface thickness to minimize resonance. Its 140W amp drives the 8-inch bass/mid driver and a 70W amp powers the tweeter. Available in passive and active versions, the mag-shielded Circle 5A is available as a pair or with an additional center speaker (HHB Circle 5AC) for surround work. The powered Circle 1 sub combines a 12-inch woofer with a 100W amp module and includes 5-channel active filtering. A Mode switch for various surround sound decoders and a LF boost control for low-level monitoring are included. Connection to the Circle 1 is handled via six balanced XLR inputs.
HHB CIRCLE 5 ACTIVE
June 2000—The magnetically shielded Circle 5 Active is a bi-amplified system that uses an 8-inch bass-mid driver with an injection-molded cone and a Ferrofluid-cooled soft-dome tweeter. The Circle 5 has a 140W amplifier for the low-mid driver and a 70W amplifier for the tweeter. Solid-state Polyswitch protection circuitry prevents overloads. The cabinet’s construction comprises a rigid, nonresonant material with a ported design that is finished in black. MSRP: $1,399 per pair. TO READ THE REVIEW, CLICK HERE.
HHB CIRCLE 5
March 1999—HHB is now shipping its Circle 5 studio monitors, available in active and passive configurations and featuring an 8-inch woofer and fluid-cooled, soft-dome tweeter. The active Circle 5 includes a 2-channel amplifier that delivers 120W to the woofer and 60W to the tweeter. Prices are $1,399 (active) and $749 (passive). At the Winter NAMM show, HHB unveiled a 5.1 monitoring package priced at $4,895 that includes five active Circle 5 monitors and the new Circle 1 powered subwoofer, which features a 100W power amp and onboard 5-channel active filtering for the satellites. The Circle 1 is also available separately for $1,398 for use with other monitor systems.
