Hafler TRM8.1

HAFLER TRM8.1/TRM12s SURROUND PACKAGE
December 2001—New for 2001, Hafler (www.hafler.com) offers a surround system made up of five TRM8.1 powered monitors ($749 each) and a TRM12s powered sub ($699). Featuring a more streamlined, vinyl-clad enclosure than its predecessors (the TRM8 and TRM6), the new TRM8.1 is a bi-amped two-way system offering a free-field frequency response of 45 to 21k Hz. An integrated 75W amp for the HF driver and a 150W LF amp power the system's frequency response of 20 to 20k Hz (0.1% THD). Signal-to-noise ratio is greater than 100 dB. The TRM8.1, which incorporates Hafler's Diamond Series Trans•nova amp technology, is mag-shielded and can be mounted in two different positions via Omnimount hardware. Hafler's TRM12s subwoofer includes a 12-inch woofer with 2.5-inch voice coil. The down-firing speaker, which is mounted in a 2.0-cubic-foot vented cabinet, is driven by the company's advanced VFET Transana 200W power amp and can output in excess of 115 dB SPL.

HAFLER TRM6
June 2000—Designed for close-field monitoring and surround sound applications, Hafler’s TRM6 employs the company’s Trans•nova amplifier technology in its design. The two-way bi-amped system (50W for low frequencies, 33W for highs) is magnetically shielded and offers a free-field frequency response of 55 to 21k Hz, ±2 dB. The TRM6 incorporates a 6.5-inch polypropylene cone woofer and a 1-inch soft-dome tweeter high-frequency driver. The cabinet’s front panel includes a power/clip/thermal LED. The rear panel has a combination XLR 1/4-inch input jack, RCA input jack, unbalanced/balanced DIP switches, and bass and treble shelving DIP switches. A companion TRM10S subwoofer is available. MSRP: $625 for each TRM6; $695 for the TRM10S.

HAFLER TRM12S/TRM10S SUBWOOFERS
March 1999—New from Hafler is the TRM6 Active Monitor Speaker System, which is similar to the company's TRM8 but smaller and cheaper. A pair of the two-way, bi-amplified powered speakers is $1,390 or $695 each. Comprising a 6.5-inch polypropylene cone woofer and a 1-inch soft-dome tweeter powered in a magnetically shielded cabinet, the TRM6 features a frequency response of 55 to 21k Hz +/-2 dB and peak output of 120 dB. Hafler just unveiled two powered subwoofers for use with its TRM6 or larger TRM8 monitors. Both subs incorporate 200W Class-G/Tans*nova amplification, a 40 to 110Hz adjustable crossover point, variable input sensitivity and balanced XLR/unbalanced RCA inputs. The TRM10s has a 10-inch woofer and is priced at $695; the 12-inch TRM12s is priced at $795.
