MACKIE HR824MK2, HR624MK2
June 2007—Mackie (www.mackie.com) unveiled the second generation of its HR monitors. The new THX-approved HR824mk2 and HR624mk2 have a cast-aluminum enclosure with a Zero Edge Baffle for minimal diffraction. Both have 1-inch titanium dome tweeters paired with 6.7-inch (HR624mk2) or 8.75-inch (HR824mk2) woofers and a passive radiator.


MACKIE HRMK2 MONITORS
May 2007—Replacing Mackie's HR824 and HR624 monitors are the new THX-approved HR824mk2 ($779 each) and HR624mk2 ($579 each). Each has a cast-aluminum enclusure with a Zero Edge Baffle design. Both have 1-inch titanium-dome tweeters paired with 6.7-inch (HR624mk2) or 8.75-inch (HR824mk2) woofers and a 1-inch titanium-dome tweeter.

MACKIE S400 SERIES
October 2005—Mackie unveils a series of EAW-designed, passive, flyable sound reinforcement speakers in a Tetrad design, with four 8-inch woofers surrounding a horn/compression driver with a 70x70-degree pattern. The ported plywood cabinet features flying and pole-mount hardware, and its tight pattern creates a near-point source effect.


MACKIE HRS120
November 2002—The Mackie HRS120 is a THXpm3-certified, 400W sub to complement Mackie's HR624 near-fields or any multichannel monitoring system that requires a dedicated LF channel. The HRS120 has a 12-inch RCF Precision woofer with 4-inch voice coil and cast-aluminum frame, and a 12-inch passive radiator. Power is via Mackie's 400W FR Series low-distortion amplification. Controls include an adjustable crossover with highpass outputs for use with full-range monitors, 110Hz elliptical filter for Dolby AC-3, output level switch for AC-3/THX.1 recording, polarity and a rotary input-sensitivity control. Connections are balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA. Slave In and Master Out options allow multiple woofers to be daisy-chained together, while two 1/4-inch phone jacks accommodate a subwoofer bypass footswitch and bypass indicator. Free-field frequency response is 21 to 150 Hz, ±1.5 dB, and the unit produces 100 dB SPL @ 1 m. Dimensions are 21x18x21.3 inches (HxWxD); weight is 94 pounds. Price: $1,499.


MACKIE HR624 ACTIVE MONITORS
January 2002—Essentially a smaller version of its acclaimed HR824 studio monitors, the HR624 active studio monitors ($649/each) from Mackie are slated to ship this month. The bi-amped (100 + 40 watts), magnetically shielded units combine a 6.7-inch woofer with a rear-firing passive radiator and the same waveguide/1-inch aluminum-dome tweeter as the HR824s. The speakers feature THX™ pm3-certification, and can be used as a stereo pair, or as a complete 5.1/7.1 surround system, with or without Mackie's new HRS120 400-watt subwoofer ($1,499). The monitor's LF amp is rated at 150W to a 4-ohm load; the HF amp is rated at 100W into 6 ohms. The HR824 uses a modified Linkwitz-Riley crossover configured at 24 dB/octave at 1,800 Hz. Its free-field frequency response is rated at 39 to 22k Hz (±1.5 dB). The HR824's rear panel provides 1/4-inch and XLR input jacks, plus switches for acoustic space, LF roll-off and HF adjustment. MSRP: $799 each. Unveiled at AES Amsterdam and slated to begin shipping next month is the HRS120, a companion subwoofer that combines a 12-inch LF driver, 12-inch passive radiator and onboard 600W amp.
