M&K PROFESSIONAL MPS-1611P
September 2005—The MPS-1611P from M&K Professional is a more compact, less-expensive monitor based on its popular MPS-2510P. The bi-amplified 6.5-inch, two-way, near- to mid-field MPS-1611P is suitable for stereo or multichannel applications, has internal mag shielding and can be used stand-alone or with any of M&K’s powered subwoofers. The driver complement is a 6.5-inch polyproplyene woofer with a 1-inch fabric-dome transmission line tweeter with an aluminum faceplate. A tapered cabinet port has a removable plug for converting the system to a sealed box or a ported design for adapting the monitor to different room and/or subwoofer configurations. Inputs are XLR/TRS balanced and unbalanced RCA; all are buffered, allowing simultaneous connections of pro (console, DAW, etc.) and consumer (DVD, surround decoder, etc.) gear without switching or repatching.


M&K PROFESSIONAL MPS-1611P
June 2005—Priced at $999 each, M&K Professional's MPS-1611P is a bi-amplified (110W LF; 50W HF), two-way design with a port on the enclosure's rear panel. A removable port plug configures the MPS-1611P for either stand-alone (ported) or as a sealed cabinet for satellite/subwoofer applications. For use without a subwoofer, remove the plug, throw a mode switch into “full-range” and the system delivers down to about 45 Hz (±3 dB). The driver complement includes a 6.25-inch polypropylene woofer and 1-inch soft-dome, ferrofluid-cooled tweeter. Upper-end response is rated at 22 kHz (±2 dB).


M&K PROFESSIONAL CR2401
December 2003—This mag-shielded speaker is intended for use in a video monitor environment. It sports two 4-inch LF drivers and a single 1-inch HF driver, and can be used with M&K's CR-480 subwoofer. Power handling is rated at 200 watts, and the frequency response is 80 to 20k Hz.


M&K PROFESSIONAL MPS-1625P
November 2002—The MPS-1625P from M&K Professional is a tri-amplified, self-powered Tripole Surround loudspeaker. The driver complement includes a polypropylene 6.5-inch woofer; a 1-inch, soft-dome, Ferrofluid transmission-line tweeter; and two 3.25-inch mid-tweeter drivers on each side baffle (the dipole drivers). Separate amps deliver 150W to the woofer, 100W to the tweeter and 100W to the side-dipole drivers. A remote relay switch lets users compare the sound produced by the direct-radiating speakers, the dipole configuration or the Tripole configuration. Suggested retail price is $2,499 each.


M&K PROFESSIONAL MPS-422
November 2002—The M&K MPS-422 “wrap-around” multichannel monitor delivers close-field monitoring for seven channels in a single chassis, designed to fit around a standard 19-inch broadcast video monitor. Each channel has a 1-inch soft-dome tweeter with one or two 3.5-inch woofers. The left/center/right channels have two woofers; the four surround channels have a single woofer. All channels use M&K's Phase-Focused crossover technology. Used with M&K's LFE-5 bass-management controller, an external amplifier and an M&K Professional powered subwoofer, the combination becomes a complete multichannel monitoring station with features that include a multichannel volume control, channel mutes, level trim pots and M&K's technically correct bass management. M&K PROFESSIONAL MPS-RK2 & MPS-RK3
November 2002—M&K's MPS-RK2 and MPS-RK3 rackmountable monitors are designed for machine rooms, transfer rooms and other pro environments in which high-quality monitoring is essential but space is at a premium. The RK2 provides two channels of monitoring on a single chassis, and the RK3 provides three channels (for left, center and right) in the same unit. Each channel has a single 1-inch, soft-dome tweeter with a 4-inch woofer, fed by an M&K Professional Phase-Focused crossover. An acoustically transparent mesh-metal grille protects the speakers. Retail for the RK2 is $649; the RK3 is $849.


M&K PROFESSIONAL MPS-2510P SURROUND SYSTEM
December 2001—M&K Professional's top-of-the-line multichannel monitoring solution comprises five of the company's MPS-2510P monitors ($1,999 each), an MPS-5410 subwoofer ($2,999) and an LFE-4 Bass-Management System ($800). M&K's system is designed for music, mastering, broadcast and film sound post-production in medium-sized control rooms (3,500 cubic feet or a monitoring distance of six to eight feet). Based on M&K's acclaimed MPS-2510 speaker, the new bi-amplified MPS-2510P is THX pm3-compliant and features dual 150W amps with user-adjustable gain control. The MPS-5410 powered sub has dual 12-inch drivers, each with a long-throw, high-power voice coil, and incorporates M&K's new 400W Active Balanced Push-Pull Dual-Drive Amp. The company's LFE-4 Bass-Management System accepts inputs for all five surround and LFE channels, and provides an 80Hz highpass filter for the five main channels.


M&K PROFESSIONAL MPS-2510/P
June 2000—The Miller & Kreisel MPS-2510/P is a powered monitor using the same 5.25-inch woofer and 1-inch tweeter drivers as the passive MPS-2510, with an active phase-focused crossover. User-selectable vertical directivity allows for optimization in various monitoring environments. The Narrow position has controlled directivity for focused sound. The Wide position covers a deeper seating area for listeners at a producer’s desk behind the mixer. The MPS-2510’s LF and HF transducers are each powered by 150W onboard amplification. Five of these monitors, along with an M&K Pro subwoofer, combine to create a 5.1 music monitoring system, providing the reference level playback required by Dolby and THX. MSRP: $1,699 each.


M&K PROFESSIONAL SURROUND SYSTEMS
March 1999—Miller & Kreisel offers a turnkey surround solution comprising the MPS-150 MAIN monitors, MPS-150 SUR surround monitors, MPS-350 SUB subwoofer and LFE-4 bass-management controller (system price: $6,950). The MPS-150 MAIN holds down the left-front, right-front and center duties. This compact full-range speaker is available in several physical configurations and offers switch-selectable directivity and stacking options. A proprietary phase-focused crossover ensures precise sound imaging. The MPS-150 SUR surround speaker offers direct, dipole and tripole output options, allowing it to achieve the diffused-yet-accurate sound required for realistic surround effects. These cabinets offer a front-radiating 5-inch woofer and 1-inch tweeter, complemented by full-range 3.25-inch cone mid/tweeters mounted in the left and right baffles. In combination with the LFE-4 bass-management controller, the MPS-350 SUB subwoofer delivers flat bass response to below 20 Hz, with an option for rising bass below 20 Hz. The MPS-350 SUB uses a 350W amp driving a pair of long-throw 12-inch drivers in a push/pull relationship.
