TANNOY PRECISION, PRECISION D
June 2005—Unveiled at Musikmesse 2005, Tannoy's Precision (passive) and Precision D (active) monitors use the company's Dual-Concentric Constant Directivity drive unit, which comprises a cone LF/MF driver and a 1-inch titanium-dome tweeter positioned on the back of the woofer for true point source playback. Additionally, there is a 1-inch titanium-dome SuperTweeter that extends the monitor's bandwidth to 51 kHz. Both active and passive models are shielded, and are available with 6- and 8-inch woofers.

TANNOY REVEAL SERIES
June 2005—Tannoy's second-generation Reveal Series monitors are now available in active, passive and digital configurations. The active Reveal 5A ($399 each) has 40W and 20W amps driving its 5-inch woofer and 1-inch soft-dome tweeter, for a 65 to 30k Hz response. The passive (Reveal 6, $229 each; and Reveal 66, $339 each) and digital (Reveal 6D; $629 each, and Reveal 66D—pictured—$799 each) models are available with single or dual 6-inch LF/MF drive units sporting the multi-fiber paper pulp cone and SuperTweeter for response to 51 kHz. The digital line also includes Reveal 8D ($799), an 8-inch woofer version. The Reveal 8D provides S/PDIF coaxial inputs and slave outputs, as well as XLR analog inputs. Optional Activ-Assist software can help Reveal 8D users set the speaker equalization to compensate for room acoustics and/or placement. The program measures the characteristics of the monitor compared to an anechoic free-space reference and recommends from more than 2,000 DIP switch combinations for the best possible response. The software, supplied with a pre-calibrated mic and the necessary cables, requires a typical Windows or Mac computer with a standard soundcard I/O facility.

TANNOY PRECISION SERIES
June 2005—The Tannoy Precision Series combines 6- or 8-inch dual-concentric coaxial drivers with a SuperTweeter for 51kHz response. The company also upgraded its entire Reveal line — now in active, passive and bi-amped digital input versions — with SuperTweeters on the high-end models. Also new is optional Activ-Assist software (Mac/PC) that includes a calibrated measurement mic to help users set speaker EQ to compensate for room acoustics or placement.

TANNOY TS12 SUBWOOFER
October 2004—Tannoy has now added a more powerful version—the TS12—that's designed to enhance the performance of stereo or multichannel loudspeaker systems. Despite the TS12's high power and very low-frequency performance, the external dimensions are not much more than 1 cubic foot in size, including the attractive coned-shaped spiked feet. The TS12 is a 22-liter, closed-box design with a down-firing 12-inch woofer driven by a 500-watt RMS amplifier.

TANNOY ELLIPSE 8 IDP
July 2004—Two striking surround systems from Tannoy—the Ellipse 8 iDP™ 5.1 ($14,995) and Ellipse 10 iDP 5.1 ($16,995)—are built from the company's visually striking monitor series, the Ellipse. Incorporating Tannoy's WideBand technology, the Ellipse range features three-way active monitors utilizing Dual Concentric drivers and a separately housed SuperTweeter™. Also, Tannoy's included iDP (Interactive Digital Programming) technology offers DSP-based room-optimization capabilities. The Ellipse 8 features 8-inch dual drivers, the Ellipse 10 features 10-inch dual drivers and both models deliver frequency responses extending above 50 kHz. Both the Ellipse 8 and Ellipse 10 offer two-way amplification via a 200W amp for the woofer and a 200W amp for the tweeter/SuperTweeter combination. The Ellipse 8 iDP 5.1 system includes five Ellipse 8 monitors with a powerful 1,500W active subwoofer—the Ellipse TS212 iDP—which features dual side-firing 12-inch aluminum cones. The Ellipse 10 iDP 5.1 system also features the TS212 iDP sub and is completed by five Ellipse 10 monitors.

TANNOY TS8 AND TS10 SUBS
May 2004—Designed for studio use, Tannoy's active TS8 and TS10 subs measure less than one cubic foot in size. The $399 TS8 has a downfiring 8-inch driver and 200-watt amp; the larger $549 TS10 uses a 10-inch driver/300W amp combo. The units operate down to 32 Hz and 29 Hz, respectively, and utilize Tannoy's BASH amplifier technology, combining the best of Class-D and Class-A/B designs. I/O is on XLRs; the output can be selected as either a direct feed or switched to provide an 80Hz highpass filter.

TANNOY REVEAL X
